Love the minimalist quality to this image

Love the minimalist feel to this image as well as the lovely burst of sunshine.

This tern captured as if descending on angels wings.

The soft muted tones in this image suit the delicateness of the little bird.

This cute little Fantail sat still long enough for me to capture his image.

The Purakaunui Falls is another spectacular stop on a tour of the Catlins. Just a short walk from the car park and very rewarding views.

The bush around the McLean Falls in the Catlins give a special colour to the water after heavy rain. Pack yourwet weather gear and appreciate the beauty the climate brings to the area.

The McLean Falls offers two different viewing areas, one as spectacular as the other. The Chute is a little further up the track.

The Nugget Point Lighthouse pictured at sunrise with The Nuggets, a group of rocky islets, included.

If you are lucky enough to get the tides right, you can access these amazing caves on Waipati Beach.

Foxgloves at Glenmore Station

This display of spectacular beauty is an annual event around this part of the country. Well worth a visit to appreciate the colours.

Rowboats at Lake Alexandrina, one of the most picturesque Lakes in the Mackenzie Basin. The lake is a breeding ground for many shy birds and locals use these little boats to the catch brown and rainbow trout and salmon that are plentiful in its waters.

Milford Sound has been captured countless times but never fails to deliver a stunning scene. Pictured as the rain takes a break for the day, before the moody clouds dissipate.

Sunset on Lake Te Anau and its not only the ducks enjoying the scenery. The jetty is a starting point for an aerial view of Fiordland National Park.

Half Dome in the Yosemite National Park at moonrise. This image is reminiscent of the eary images taken in the park that helped to make it one of the must do destinations for my bucket list.

El Capitan and Half Dome. The image that greets you on the drive into Yosemite National Park.

Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is just as recognisable inblack and white. The slow shutter speed gives a dreamy look to the water and adds contrast to the architectural stucture that spans the bay.

Sunrise in Monument Valley gives a wonderful texture to the sand dunes and Totem Pole. Colour is not needed to bring this magnificent scene to life.

Twin Falls Idaho is the home to the beautiful Shoshone Falls on the Snake River.

Sunset illuminates the East and West Mitten Buttes in Monument Valley. The road that meanders around the Navajo National Park is 17 miles of bumps and dust.

A scene made famous by John Ford and John Wayne. Even the Lone Ranger and Tonto has taken the train ride past these iconic structures.

Mesa Arch at sunrise in Canyonlands National Park. An early start is paramount if you want to get a space to set up the tripod among the crowd.

As the sun sets on the the La Sal Mountains behind Delicate Arch. Although the sun goes off the Arch about an hour before sunset it is well worth waiting to get the sunset on the mountains even if the actual Arch is in the shade. The Arches National Park is well worth the visit if you are in the area.

Horseshoe bend, where the Colorado River sweeps around this central geological structure, is best viewed at sunrise when a small aperture can add a lovely sunburst to the scene. Keep an eye on the edge as its a long tumble over the steep cliff.

Illuminated by moonlight in the early morning, Zabriskie Point appears blue. The sight, in Death Valley was the scene for the movie of the same name.

Also located in Utah The Goosenecks National Park  is situated on the San Juan River.

The sand dunes out of Merzouga offer the best of shadow and light.

The Dunes are dotted with camels taxiing tourists on their sandy excursions or waiting on them to return from their clamber through the hot sand.

Time for a catch up before the heat of the day.
